TYPE 275

UNDERGROUND MINE CABLES

The most mechanically demanding trailing cable classification in Australian underground mining— engineered in Australia, proven where others fail.

THE TYPE 275 CHALLENGE

Type 275 is widely recognised as the most demanding trailing cable classification in Australian underground coal mining. It is specified for the heaviest mobile equipment operating in the most punishing environments — continuous flexing under load, sustained impact, crushing underfoot, and exposure to abrasive coal dust and mine water. Few cable manufacturers can produce a compliant Type 275. Fewer still can produce one that outlasts the equipment it powers.

"Competing 275 cables pulled from Australian mine sites are lasting months. Znergy Type 275 cables on the same equipment, in the same conditions, are lasting years. That is not a marginal improvement —it is a fundamentally different product."

ZYNERGY’S AUSTRALIAN ENGINEERING ADVANTAGE

While imported and rebranded 275 cables routinely fail within a single mining season — some within weeks of commissioning on high-cycle equipment — Znergy Type 275 cables are consistently delivering multi-year service life on the same machines, in the same headings, under the same abuse. This is not coincidence. Znergy Type 275 is developed and engineered in Australia, drawing on direct application knowledge from Queensland and NSW underground coal operations. It is not an adapted export design or a rebranded import — every construction detail is specified around Australian conditions, Australian standards, and the brutal reality of Australian underground coal.

HD-85-PCP outer sheath — premium heavy duty polychloroprene compound selected for superior cut, abrasion and crushing resistance over standard PCP grades.

Open weave reinforcement layer — provides mechanical load distribution and resists sheath blow-out under point impact, a failure mode common in lighter designs.

Semiconductive elastomer fill — eliminates void collapse under crush load, maintaining core geometry and preventing insulation damage where unscreened cables fail earliest.

Class 5 tinned copper conductors — maximum strand count construction per AS/NZS 1125, delivering superior flex life in continuous trailing duty cycles.

R-EP-90 EPR insulation — rated to 90 °C continuous, providing thermal headroom that protects conductor life during high-load mobile equipment operation.

Interstice earth architecture — three semiconductive-covered flexible earth conductors located in the interstices, preserving earth continuity even under sustained mechanical deformation.

COMMON FAILURE MODES — UNDER-DESIGNED ALTERNATIVES

Sheath rupture at impact points, conductor deformation under crush load, insulation breakdown from void collapse, earth conductor failure from work-hardening, and pilot conductor open-circuit due to inadequate strain relief.

SPECIFY TYPE 275 WHEN: Continuous miners, shuttle cars, feeder breakers, or longwall ancillary — anywhere high mechanical stress, repeated impact, crushing risk, or heavy equipment supply is present in underground coal.

DO NOT SPECIFY WHEN: Low-mass and maximum flexibility are prioritised over mechanical protection — consider Type 241/241S for those applications.
